Abandoned or disappointed by your Network?

Sometime’s we all feel or know people have let us down, and sometimes we know, if we want to tell the truth we have let ourselves down even more!

This week in my Private Masterclass, I am going to discuss how we can utilise the Scale of Preference tool. For those who do not know what a scale of preference tool is, the tool is mostly used by economists to help measure and assess preferences and priorities.

Interestingly you can, transfer the use of this tool and use it to get the same results in other areas including using it to measure priorities and preferences in your Social network, Business network and Importantly on yourself.

I am going to share a few lines on how you should use this tool to measure the value of your Social network.

Prioritisation (Listing actions in order of importance)

A scale of preference will list from top to bottom things that are most important to use, this list may be one to five or one to ten. The priorities on the top receive maximum attention.

A scale of preference is not a Wishlist and is not about words and idle promises, but about actions. If you are never featured as a  priority in your social networks scale of preference, and you are feeling left out, excluded or excommunicated I have news for you, that pain or awkward feeling is not necessarily bad. It is, in fact, a wake-up call to challenge you from being too comfortable where you are.

Being prioritised in your social networks is not about words and idle promises, but about actions, between you and your friends or colleagues. If you are never a priority to your friends or colleagues and never up their on their scale of preference, then you need to reposition yourself.

By this I mean, If your “Reasonable well-defined requests” are never met. You are not on the top ten list!

What could make this uncomfortable is if all or most of their “Reasonable well-defined requests” are met by you!

This means there is no Reciprocity and your Social Value Relationship is lopsided!  And this lop side is not in your favour!

Solution

Abandoned or disappointed by your Network? Thinking

Take a step back, have some quiet time and revisit your scale of preference.

Ask yourself why these “ungrateful people” are on your scale of preference. Can someone else do what you require from them?

More importantly, take out time to understand “Delayed gratification” are you too eager for something that is great? But might require you to delay receiving this to keep your self-dignity?

Your Leadership Time Lease!

 Time lease

Oracle smiled ever so gently and started sharing the true story, the story that made Silicon Valley, Dubai, London, New York and Beijing.

 

Before clocks existed and Men could count days, time was recorded solely on the holy rock buried in the heart of the city of Oracle. This was far away from earth at the centre of the Milky way. Traveling spirits arriving on earth were sent with small stones, smaller than pebbles, this is where the other part of their time lease was buried.

 

The great oracle leased out, these stones, smaller than pebbles to the parents of newborn children and these stones recorded how long you would live on earth. At the appointed date and time, Oracle would call from his divine palace and mystically call for the return of the stones, which also meant the end of the time lease or as humans would say “Death”. Within this time people who have been leased time needed to discover their divine call on earth and then focus and run the race to fulfil that call; all before the stone was mystically summoned back.

 

Between 1910 and 2010, Oracle divinely proclaimed four special assignments.  Only ten million people, born in that time bracket 1910 to 2010, because he knew  “Mankind”. He knew some would disobey, some would fail, some would be caught up with the pride of life and have a perverse opinion/attitude to the call, and only some would make it through.

 

Oracle in his divine wisdom, made four proclamations and declared them assignments that must be fulfilled.

Your Leadership Time Lease! Oracle1

(A) A life of serving others and then being served (Which could be risky as not all practice reciprocity). Oracle gave this gift to the world because he knew that after the hurt and pain people had gone through after the Two world wars and Slavery, love and patience needed to be demonstrated so the grieving souls of many could find solace, peace and love; and eventually start to blossom again.  Some of the people he gave the call to that obeyed include  Mother Theresa, President JF Kennedy, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela.

 

 

 

(B) A Life of many words but few actions (Playing life safe but limited). Oracle gave this special assignment, as a gift to the world because he wanted to let people see how painful it was to not live by your word. So, he made sure many adults would tell children: “I promise to pick you up or buy you a gift and have the child’s world filled to the brim with excitement only to be disappointed by a flimsy excuse”. He also allowed such people to grow into adults who would say many things to eager neighbours or people in need of help, only to disappoint them later.  To make the story one everyone would remember, Oracle permitted a few to come into some key positions of power and let them disappoint, with their words and then use their actions to only judge, accuse and remain indecisive. ( Like many people on our streets, neighbourhoods, communities and even our offices)

 

 

 

(C) A life where you live serving someone else’s call in part or full.  Oracle looked at me in a special way. Oracle said these are people full of potential gifts and abilities destined for greatness but had to deliberately make a choice. A choice of leaving the familiar and safe for the risky but potentially fulfilling. Otherwise, they would only excel within the confines of someone else’s call. But remember the bigger picture, we all are in different ways part of someone else’s call. By nationality, gender etc.(I am sure you can think of people who fit in here)

 

 

(D) A life of leading.  Suddenly the room became dark and I felt a chill, Oracle said to me “I want you to share this with your network on Earth” I have given you all one-time lease each and I will not give you another!   I already know you are leading and leading quite well, but I am unhappy about one thing. This one thing you need to do 100 times more. You see I gave all of you stones. I am the Author of your existence, but I will not butt in or interfere with your life. This is the Genius stroke, the way to truly win. My heart beat so fast when Oracle said this.

 

Oracle, looked at me and said do you remember World war 2 or at the very least the films?  I nodded my head. He said Do you remember the six million Jews that died during the Holocaust, I nodded and the millions that died during the transatlantic slave trade from Africa? I was anxious and alert and managed to nod my head again.   Oracle said  A life of leading is a life of creating, serving and most especially it’s a life of Loving.  If you can not overlook or try and help others  you can never be a leader that will be marked eternally within this time lease.  As he spoke I saw some stones return to him. Some had been on earth for 80 years and some for only 20 years. Before I could think of why. Oracle looked at me and said why only 20 years?

 

Oracle said I did not call for that stone, not at all, Oracle said  Selfishness and Judgment ejected that stone from earth. The poor owner could not handle the grief of rejection again and drugs overwhelmed them.  Oracle said    “ A life of leading, a life of selfless leading will be the crown jewel for eternity for anyone who wants to master the time lease.

Rules and Secrets from Oracle

The first rule of Increase under the time lease law is identify and solve a problem with Joy and the second rule is you will be rewarded according to the measure of your targeted value-adding activity.

 

By this tear my eyes welled up and my emotions convicted me, I must change the way I help and my motives behind business.

 

My Question:

How have you served your vision? Or somebody else’s vision? Have you ever considered or thought that YOUR delaying to serve/help is the reason why some great destinies are not succeeding in this time lease?

Do you know if you were willing to lead in identifying and solving other problems out there your participation would be facilitating destiny? Ray Kroc fulfilled it for MacDonald’s

 

Selfishness is not an option only a sure route to Eternal FAILURE

What is your WHY here on Earth? Which category or categories do you fit in under Oracle’s proclamation that is if you were born between 1910 and 2010. Answer and act decisively before your stone is recalled by Oracle.

Today, I want to rave about two amazing ladies, members of my Mastermind Group for Entrepreneurs!

Shola Alabi, Education expert, with two Education centres. One in London and the other in Essex.

A couple of Sundays ago, Shola was the Keynote speaker at an Education Conference at the Bromley Court Hotel.  Normally an hour-long session with one speaker is enough to send you to sleep unless you have the phenomenal gift of connecting with your audience and you ooze of passion. Shola Alabi fits this description, in fact, she had her audience eating out of her hand as the clock moved from 60 to 100 minutes with more questions still coming for her! So, you can imagine how eager her audience were to hear the next thing from her.  Shola used a combination of strategies I coach my entrepreneurs on; one of them being mastering the art of storytelling, as this is an emotive way of winning the hearts of your audience.

What makes Amara, a lady to boast about is her tenacious focus on success. If you want to lose; yes I mean to lose a bet, then bet against Amara rising to any challenge you set her!

I understand she deleted the word “Cant” from her dictionary, so everything is possible in her world.

Amara held her debut event two weeks ago in Covent Garden, Central London to a sold out room. As I watched her address her audience, I was filled with awe because all of the speaking techniques I had taught her were executed flawlessly. A brilliant student always graduates from level to level.

Amara, has me raving and it’s true simply because:

She is deaf to the word “Can’t.”

She practises till you have to move her goal post.

Yes, she is a member of my mastermind group.

How to Master YOUR story and connect with your audience

 

I am always learning, reading, attending seminars listening to my coaches and releasing my creativity for my clients. Today, I want to share with you why mastery in storytelling is imperative.

 

Why we tell, a story has a great effect on “How” we tell a story. As a  Strategist, I know that telling a story to a prospect is important because I want my prospect to experience safe and trustworthy emotions when it comes to my brand( I am sure you would want your prospects to feel the  same right?)It is also because I want the prospect to recognise my authority, authenticity and experience in the area. So internally they can react by, feeling safe, convinced and convicted that buying into my service is the right thing for them to do to Improve their life and future chances.

Action:

I would like you ( I would love you) to tell a story for the same and even more reasons. A great story is always simple, authentic, easy to understand and in a language and communication mode easily understood, digested and acted on by the intended recipients.

 

Last week Thursday, two members of my mastermind group  Amara Kanu and Anne Ogunlesi, told their stories to a sold out room at The Solid Woman conference, Trafalgar Square.

 

These ladies told their stories in a simple, authentic, emotive, truthful and valid way. They also made their audience the centre of the story and spoke to them like royalty.

 

If you were to ask Amara or Anne about their success, they would start with their “Why” and how they used their “Why” to share emotive stories.

 

Needless to say when they asked the audience to give them their contact details, willingly they did, and with it a number of media interviews, requests for further paid speaking engagements and to round it of (only as a master of storytelling can do), the whole room of their free will stood up and gave a rousing,  tearful ovation.

 How to reposition and change your perception in 2017.

You can’t control how people perceive you – but you can control your image, position and associations.

 

Ever heard of Ying-Yang? Ok let’s tweak it a bit and instead of watching the time let’s become “Clock builders”. Yes-I’ve read Built To Last and I love it!

So, before we go any further with this conversation, rule number one is:

LISTEN!!!

 

This is easy in this Social Media age. Watch how many people open your newsletters, add you on social media, attend your speaking engagements, like/comment or retweet your thoughts. All of these can “change how people perceive you”. When done in the right way, it can result in a new set of perceptions for you.

 

If you have attended my courses or my Mastermind Coaching group or read my articles or newsletters on Effective Communication, you will find the common trend. Perceptions are created by assessments and even when people hear what you tell them, they hear what they want to hear – based on what they have heard, made up, feel, or believe. This is a mix of truths, fact, fiction and influences.

 

With that in the background, here is a quick outline of how you can go about your task:

 

1. Change the conversations:

If you are switching from being an employee to a business owner, then your conversations have to move towards leadership/forecasting and growth.

 

2. Change who you are having conversations with:

Your old network already has a biased opinion (good or bad)about who you are and what they should bring to the table for you. Change the scene.

 

3. Reframe the earlier experience:

Re-inventing yourself is compulsory, you need to accept and leverage your old experience and use as your resource of connections, networks and marketplace for the new you. Your actions will reframe you – same person but different business attire.

 

4. Be an action-oriented person. Let your results introduce you:

The evidence of your work will be the fastest tool to aid with rebranding you in the minds of people. No matter what you know, the proof and belief are always in the pudding. In my book titled “37 Business Thoughts”, I say that “Being the best means nothing, except the world, can evidence this.”

 

5. Persistence and consistency:

With persistence and consistency, no matter how long people have known you, your bullish new attitude will convert the most sceptic of old time friends or associates who aligned you with a particular way of business or life. Your ability to continue will define the new you – 37 Business Thoughts.

 

6. Invest to yield returns:

Invest in yourself as much as possible; because your acumen, awareness and ability to deliver will determine what level of returns you will attract. Whatever you do, please do not “Save” money by doing tasks you can outsource to “Fiverr” or some expert who will deliver in a fraction of the time it will take you.

 

Utilise the 80/20 principle. So no matter how daunting this new position seems as long as you lean on your improved strengths they will yield a higher return for you.

 

Last but not the least:

7. Self Confidence

In my coaching series on this singular point, I teach how self-belief and confidence are crucial to holding you to your new image.  “Hold on to your self-confidence, if you hold on tight to this despite any challenges, this attitude will bring you a high reward. In this case a New Perception. ”
